PAL Basketball Starts Strong

About 15 kids are involved in the new weekend program.

A small group of teens are showing a lot of promise two weeks into .

WPD officer and PAL program coach Rudy Lopez Jr. reported he has about 15 kids in the program, which meets on Saturday mornings in the gym at the , at Union Street and Maple Avenue.

Lopez, who grew up in Watsonville, started the program because he felt sports kept him off the streets and helped him get into college. He hopes to have a positive impact on youth in the community.
