What am I honestly looking forward to seeing? "Monsters University". I'm alwaysRead More skeptical on animated sequels, but Pixar - don't get me started on "Cars 2" - has a reliable track record. Besides, we get to take our friend's two daughters to see it. "Much Ado About Nothing" - because I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan and he can do no wrong. Plus, Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof, so...bonus. I dug "Iron Man 3", but I just can't get excited about any of the big movies headed our way. Maybe it's the fact that Hollywood just keeps rebooting the same three superheroes (Superman, Batman, Spiderman) over and over, or the fact we see pretty much the whole film in the trailers months ahead of time, and my interest wanes. Got off on a tear, didn't I? Maybe I should have blogged about this instead. ;)

@Michael: my three year old nephew just saw "Monsters University" and declared itRead More "the best movie I have ever seen in my whole life!" Sounds like a winner to me too.
KSCO host jokes that Hillary Clinton should be shot
Nicholas Hawley September 27, 2013 at 02:54 pm
Really Brad, Of all the things to get upset about, this?!? Where was your indignation whenRead More defended and said WORSE about a sitting and former president (Bush) when you were a host on KSCO? No you defended the free speech rights of those. So In Kava-land if there is a (D) by the persons name they have the right to free speech, if you have an (R) by your name, then smile and keep your mouth shut. Kava, you're not a journalist, you're a partisan hack. So is Georgia, she's just honest about it.
RenegadePetie September 27, 2013 at 04:27 pm
@Margarette.... Georgia is also going to be on the air with him so, I guess they are gonna get downRead More to it , I am actually interested in what he has to say , lol, even tho we all already know how I feel about it, I dont think I kept it a secret.
Margarette September 27, 2013 at 06:14 pm
All right, RenegadePetie, I'll try calling in on my ObamaPhone!

I'm delighted for the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and for England. What bight cheerful newsRead More during these gloomy times. I'm happy that the birth of the Royal Baby is bringing in excess of $4 billion to the British economy. If we had that kind of infusion of cash our politicians would find a way to squander it....lord, knows they wouldn't spend it on a National Health Service (that actually works)!

Unless the royal couple are planning to open a new restaurant or hold a yard sale in Watsonville,Read More I'm not sure what they're doing in "Watsonville" Patch.
Don Gateley July 6, 2013 at 03:00 pm
Well, of course. They've succeeded in sweeping it from the beaches into the neighborhoods whereRead More it's much easier to hide and the number of people coming here to participate continues to grow as it will. Great job. Where I live on Broadway the close nearby and overhead shots were several times what I've ever heard before. Nothing in the past was remotely comparable and all my amazed neighbors agree. I saw and heard one land on my roof and had to take the hose to it prophylactically. The Fun Rangers need to leave it alone and leave it on the beaches or there will inevitably be the great Santa Cruz county fire.
David H. Perez July 6, 2013 at 04:37 pm
At the last meeting of the Watsonville City Council, the fire chief said there is a fine of up toRead More $1,000.00 if you are caught with illegal fireworks. Especially with the city's fiscal crisis, there would have been a lot of money to be made out there if the violators were more aggressively located and cited.
John Cohen July 15, 2013 at 07:03 am
The fireworks continue at the Mission Gardens Apartments — now the entire neighborhood isRead More calling 911 about it. Teenage gangsters are setting off fireworks in the Mission Gardens park and parking lot to terrorize residents here. They are tagging this apartment complex as their territory. They are angry because a major gangster here was recently arrested for felonious aggravated assault — they are angry because the Santa Cruz Police Department and the federal government are trying to dislodge them from Mission Gardens, which they have coveted since Carl Reimer's murder here three years ago last April.
Cathy P. June 29, 2013 at 09:53 am
Nice list but there is no where in Watsonville to watch fireworks. I'm certainly not travelling wayRead More out of the area to do so either. Why can't we have a fireworks display, say at the airport? Charge a fee, parking, have a few concessions, etc. It would be a great way to bring the community together, maybe support some non-profits like PAL, high school sports, yes?
Cathy P. June 29, 2013 at 09:54 am
Oh, and I'm staying home Fourth of July. Have to have the hose ready for when all those illegalRead More bottle rockets land on my roof :(

"Right up there with Wrath of Khan..." that's a mighty tall order to fill ;) Going MondayRead More to Green Valley Cinema to see it in 3-D. Great review, I can't wait!
Robin February 6, 2013 at 09:41 pm
I keep hearing about Beasts but haven't seen that or The Master yet. Lincoln was wonderful, and IRead More loved Argo. So glad there are actually movies with plots instead of just explosions!
marc d sander February 6, 2013 at 11:25 pm
@Robin:thanks for the feedback. Highly reccomend both beasts and master. Neither are short on actingRead More or story. Ask yourself what's more important to you acting or story. If the answer is acting go with the master if it's story go with beasts. I'l do a review on best movie this weekend. Thanks for your comment!

Dancing is such a great way to get exercise and have fun at the same time. I never would haveRead More thought to observe a class first, but it makes perfect sense. And, so many people are intimidated by the idea of dancing that they miss this opportunity for fun.

Nice story but I never thought museums were/are boring!
Brother Blue Boo January 21, 2013 at 03:09 pm
Where is this?
john January 23, 2013 at 03:14 pm
Well, the old jail is next to the museum, not the museum building itself. The shows that KathleenRead More Moodie produced were far from being boring. It would be nice to see some good art again along with the community events.

I'm bummed. I hadn't heard that he was sick and 67 is 'way too young. I love his shows and regretRead More that there won't be more coming. Regards to his family and friends.

Oh no! I'll miss watching Huell's TV show. Mr Howser always appeared upbeat and he came acrossRead More genuinely interested in his subjects and gave respect to his interviewees. I learned so much about California from his programs. May he rest in peace. My sincere condolences to his family.
Chuck January 8, 2013 at 01:05 am
The first time I saw Huell Howser and his show, I thought he was a goofball especially with hisRead More accent and semi Gomer Pyle like personality. But then I grew to love the show and looked forward to it every time, because here was a guy, a non native of California, who loves and appreciates this state more than anyone else. I liked the fact that he explored the remote, obscure parts of the State and encouraged everyone to visit those places. I hope his show can go on, in some form. Rest in peace, Huell.
