Watsonville-Santa Cruz Japanese American Citizens League
150 Blackburn St, Watsonville, CA 95076
The Japanese American Citizens League formed in 1934 as a social club but was reborn after World War II as aMore nonreligious citizens organization with the goal of performing community service. Watsonville Nikkei—Japanese and Japanese Americans—shared their cultural heritage with the larger community and assisted people who were interned during WWII with filing claims for losses sustained during the war. In 1977, the organization established the Tokushige Kizuka Hall in an old church. Today, the group offers scholarships, disaster relief, youth activities, Day of Remembrance programs, cultural activities and programs for seniors and participates in several cultural events in Watsonville each year.
