Turning 50 (some years ago) was a changing point in my life. As far back as I can remember I used to say "I have to go and fill up my eyes." I would go for a drive to see the leaves turning neon colors in the fall and visualize planting the images deep in my mind to remember on a cold winter’s day when the vibrant colors were gone. I used to live on the island of Cape Breton in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada.

I never owned a decent camera and when I did shoot, it was snap shots for my children to remember their childhoods. I was a single parent with four sons and photography was a luxury. Now I can photograph the images that have been in my mind all my life. I am finally free to document beauty of a different style.

My photos have been published in American Falconry Magazine with photographs of Glen Stewart and his Saker Falcon.

I have also had a one woman show with 42 large pieces of my work displayed at the Museum of Natural History in Santa Cruz. After the show, select photos were hung in the Council Chambers of the City of Santa Cruz.

Many of my photos appear on various websites locally, in Canada and soon to be, in Scotland. Also, framed photographs of my wildlife are in homes as far away as New York, in professional office buildings right here in Santa Cruz but most importantly, in the bedroom of my grandson Shawn James Gray in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

My granddaughter recently told me I was going to become a great-grandmother and that is why I decided to create a place for other great-grandmothers, or great as in wonderful grandmothers, to send me any questions you might have regarding photography. I will answer them as best I can. Feel free to email me photos if you would like some feedback or just for bragging rights :)

Of course I welcome anyone to make comments or ask questions regardless of age or gender.

One of the most important thing to remember is that the best photos have one thing in common, they tell a story. So lets all snap away and create a photography community right here on Santa Cruz Patch!

Best Regards, Marguerite
