Watsonville Resident Killed in Rolling Shootout in Santa Cruz

No arrests have been made. Police continue to investigate the killing Saturday morning.

A rolling gun battle ended with a 31-year-old Watsonville resident dead Friday night in Santa Cruz, police said Saturday morning.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 1800 and 2800 blocks of Mission Street at about 10:50 p.m., police said.

Additional reports indicated that the victim of a rolling gun battle crashed into the Burger King parking lot at 2015 Mission St., according to police.

When officers and emergency crews arrived, they found a person suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

After attempted life-saving measures, the victim, whose gender was not yet released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The suspect in the shooting remains at large.

Police were continuing to investigate Saturday morning, police said. Mission Street, between Almar Avenue and Bay Street, was closed during the on-site police investigation.
